Nike Zoom Fly 6 belongs to the sports category – it’s a transitional tempo/training shoe featuring a carbon plate that brings racing technology from Nike into a more durable package for everyday miles.
History: The Child of the Breaking2 Project
The first Zoom Fly was created in 2017 as a direct byproduct of Nike's Breaking2 project, where Eliud Kipchoge aimed to break the two-hour marathon barrier. The Zoom Fly served as a more accessible version of the then-current Zoom Vaporfly 4% – instead of a pure carbon plate, it used a nylon plate with carbon fibers, and instead of ZoomX Pebax foam, it relied on Lunarlon. The goal from the start was to offer a silhouette fast enough for racing but durable enough for regular training.
Technology: FlyPlate, ZoomX, and SR-02 Foam
The sixth generation combines performance and durability for the first time in the series with a dual-layer midsole construction:
- ZoomX Foam (Top Layer): For the first time in the Zoom Fly series, this is real, not recycled ZoomX foam – it provides a responsive, energetic bounce without being overly soft.
- SR-02 Foam (Bottom Layer): A firmer and more durable foam beneath the ZoomX layer that bears the main impact load and significantly extends the shoe's lifespan compared to pure racing models.
- FlyPlate Carbon Plate: A full-length plate embedded between both foam layers adds stiffness to the forefoot – at slower paces, it’s nearly imperceptible, but it significantly enhances bounce as pace increases.
Durability
Thanks to the more durable SR-02 foam beneath the main ZoomX layer, the Zoom Fly 6 can handle significantly more miles than pure racing models – real-world tests report a lifespan of approximately 480–725 km, depending on the runner's weight and foot strike style.

Nike is an undisputed giant in the world of sports and fashion. Nike clothing, sneakers, and even accessories have long been among the best value for money. Beyond the aforementioned apparel and accessories, the success of the brand is primarily due to its sneakers.
Innovation and Nike Air
Nike has become extremely famous for its legendary Air technology. The first Nike shoes with the then strange air bubble came out in 1987. Their name is etched in the memory of anyone who is even slightly more interested in Nike footwear - Nike Air Max 1. The designer of the first model line of Nike sneakers with the so-called Air Sole was Tinker Hatfield. An icon of sneaker culture, thanks to which today we can wear Nike shoes with the Air Max label in a wide variation of models.

History of Nike
The original name of the company we know today as Nike, was Blue Ribbon Sports. Nike sneakers didn't start appearing under their current name until 1971, when the legendary brand was joined by the no less legendary logo - the Swoosh. This was put together at the time by University of Portland student Carolyn Davidson, and her pay for this sideways design was then just two dollars an hour for labor (relative to today's prices, it would make roughly 7 times as much).
